The Stand Up Inn
The Theme Pub, where great beer is the theme

The Stand Up Inn dates back to the 1800’s, when it was built by Edward Durrant, who erected the Ale House adjoining his tiny brewery. The Durrant’s Brewery brewed its last ale almost 100 years ago, although the remains of the old building can still be seen today, at the back of the pub.

The pub became The Stand Up Inn, due to there being no seats back then; in 1980 it was re-named The Linden Tree after the mature lime tree that towers over the front door. Then, in 2005, after an extensive refurbishment and opening up of the interior The Dark Star Brewery reopened the pub, once again under the banner of The Stand Up Inn.

Like Dark Star’s other pubs, The Stand Up Inn is a haven for lovers of quality beers; they can not only enjoy the Dark Star range, but also beers from a wide variety of other breweries, as well as the many ciders, perries and classic continental beers available at the pub.
